A couple of months ago was the 2nd time (with two separate houses) that I've had my roof replaced with Sparks in the last few years. They are genuinely honest, caring and true to their word about when they can come and when they will be finished. Their work is excellent. My new roof looks fantastic! I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone needing roofing work done. They are not scammers or storm chasers, they are actually a locally owned and operated small business and they are wonderful!
I just had a metal roof installed by Sparks for $16,500 to do my 2000 square ft house and detached 30x36 garage. He does a fantastic job on shingle roofs. If you want a clean looking metal roof, you will have to lower your expectations a bit. I had too high of expectations, wanting my roof to look like pictures you see on the internet or as clean as my barn. My roof has changes in pitch and a gable that the metal has to be tucked under in those spots which creates quite a bit of wrinkling, crunching and a very dented look. If you have a simple roof with no pitch changes or dormers, then you should be fine. The vinyl siding on my garage got holes in five spots and a bunch of black marks all over from the tear off. I misunderstood him (and his foreman too) when he said he would fix all the siding that they damaged What he meant was that he would save some of the siding from the dormers that also got damaged so that I can fix it myself. The siding on the dormers got so damaged that it was going to cost him more money to reside them than to just tear them off. We agreed to have them torn off because the metal was so crunched up around them (there is no way to avoid this with dormers, the metal will always crunch up). He replaced a small section of dented gutter at no extra charge. The roof doesn't leak and that's what is important, especially when you spend so much money. I would highly suggest sending pictures via email of your expectations and outright ask him if you have unrealistic expectations. That will save both you and him a lot of headaches. Also, if you can, as with all contractors, take before photos of everything and photos during the process. He says he stands by his work 100% and if it ever leaks he will be out to fix the leak, which I believe to be true. My neighbors roof leaked after he installed it and he came out and repaired the leak. So he stands by his word where that is concerned.
